Having a well balanced workforce is essential for productivity, flexibility, and revenue. Overtime will be scheduled and mandatory for employees as needed to meet customer demands.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Elemental Breakdown – Order receipt and picking
A. Orders are released from the shipping office to the lead person in the Kohl’s department.
B. The orders are placed in a tray at the beginning of the pick line conveyor for the Kohl’s Dot Com packing line.
C. The items to be picked for the Dot Com orders in the Kohl’s area are stored in the pick racks and the surrounding designated floor space.
D. The picker removes order from the tray and retrieves the items on the order from their designated storage spot. The items on the order are placed onto the conveyor that feeds the packer.
E. Items to be shipped in their standard pack must have the carton slit open and security tags must be removed for items that have them. The carton is left open and pushed down the conveyor line to the packer. Pick and Pack items need to have a carton made and the items are placed into the carton. The carton is left unsealed. The pack slips are placed inside or on the lead carton and the carton is pushed down the conveyor line to the packer.
II. Elemental Breakdown – Packing
A. The packer logs on to the computer into a pack mode.
B. The packer takes the order and scans bar code on the order. The item or items in the lead carton are scanned against the order. Once all of the items in the carton are scanned complete, the carton type code is scanned to close the carton. The customer copy of the pack slip is placed inside the carton.
C. When the carton is closed, the UCC128 carton label is printed out and placed on the carton based upon the packing specs for Kohl’s Dot Com.
D. The carton is sealed with clear plastic tape. Any additional cartons that go with the same order are packed and sealed as well. When the order is packed completely, the warehouse copy of the pack slip is placed on the lead carton and the carton or cartons are pushed forward toward the FEDEX station.
III. Elemental Breakdown – FEDEX
A. The person designated to perform the FEDEX function scans the UCC 128 label, which was placed on the carton by the packer using the scanning gun designated for that line printer.
B. After scanning the carton label, the person either presses the F10 key or scans the F10 template in order to print the FEDEX label.
C. If the label printed calls for expedited shipment, the order is checked to verify that it is designating an expedited shipment. If it does not call for an expedited shipment, the supervisor is informed immediately and the carton is placed aside until the supervisor resolves the issue. If the order is verified to be a ground shipment, the label will be deleted and the carton will be processed again.
D. The FEDEX label is applied to the carton per the packaging specs for the customer. Note: Each carton is to be scanned and labeled before scanning the next carton. This is to prevent scanning the same carton twice or placing the label on the incorrect carton.
E. Each FEDEX label comes with an identification tab, which is peeled off the label backing along with the label itself. This tab is affixed to the copy of the order that matches the carton. The copy of the order is placed in a tray next to FEDEX computer at the end of the line.
F. The completed carton is then placed on the FEDEX pallet.
A. 1 person, 2 persons, or 3 persons may perform the 3 operations, which are listed above. This depends upon the volume of orders to be processed.
