Job Position: Senior Buyer/Purchasing Manager (Full Time Position)

Job Details:

  • This Job is on a 12 Hour Swing Shift. You will work from 7am – 7pm for 2 weeks and then 7pm to 7am for 2 weeks.
  • This Job Requires a Drug Test and a Background Check
  • Location: Hwy 90 in Conway, SC
Responsibilities of Position:
  • Procure goods and services necessary to support the production plan and to achieve specified targets for delivery, cost, and quality.
  • Develop long-term collaborative relationships with suppliers in support of our cost reduction goals.
  • Negotiates and purchases materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Issues quotation requests, analyze competitive bids, awards contracts, and issues purchase orders.
  • Executes contractual agreements for the purchase of capital goods and services.
  • Manages raw material purchases to include forecasting usage, preparing AOP pricing, scheduling deliveries & inventory control.
  • Maintains contact with suppliers’ representatives, keeping abreast of changing market conditions and supplier dependability.
  • Develop a multi-source network of suppliers for procured items.
  • Oversees service agreements & long-term contracts.
  • Select potential suppliers for major capital equipment/construction projects.
  • Partners with customs brokers to ensure seamless import/export compliance.
  • Manages the bi-annual supplier assessment process and ensures compliance with our Quality Plan.
  • Conducts all activities in a highly ethical manner and maintains good supplier relationships.
  • Operator forklift in a warehouse shipping environment.
  • Maintain cross-function training with warehouse personnel.
  • Approximately $20M annual purchasing activity.
Key Success Factors:
  • Specific expectations during next 6 – 18 months.
  • Reduce inventory adjustments (GL to physical balance) by 25%.
  • Implement effective measurements to assess overdue to requisition and overdue receipts and implement solutions to improve.
  • Partner with Operations & Engineering to identify appropriate material productivity opportunities.
Attributes/Skills Required/Sought:
  • In-depth knowledge of base material markets (steel, ferroalloys, precious/semi-precious metals, paper, ceramics, gases)
  • Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes, & procedures
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Solid decision-making capability.
  • Service-oriented and customer-focused
  • Strong analytical and computer skills
  • Knowledge of inventory control policies & procedures
  • Knowledge of import/export compliance regulations
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
Experience/Education Required/Sought:
  • B.S. degree in Business Administration or related field or a combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of purchasing/procurement experience. Working through an ERP/MRP implementation is a plus.
  • APICS professional certification (CPIM) a preferred.
